Born and raised in central Connecticut, Wendy Brusick left New England to pursue a BSFA in painting at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. After graduation in 1978 she moved to Chicago to study at the American Academy of Art. Her watercolors produced during this period were acquired by area collectors and she received a number of commissions.
A desire to develop her skills in realist technique led her to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia from which she received a four-year certificate in painting along with many prizes including the Schiedt Memorial Traveling Scholarship that enabled her to visit art museums in ten European countries.
As a participant in PAFA's private studio program she developed surrealistic images and explored themes based on dream work. Many of her paintings remain in Philadelphia area collections. A monumental religious painting completed during her last year of study was purchased by the Brauer Museum of Art at Valparaiso University.
During her subsequent sojourn in various areas of the Midwest, she sold her work privately. She returned to her New England roots and, after a brief hiatus to start a family, she currently works full-time in her studio in the Edgewood neighborhood of Cranston, Rhode Island. She continues to create paintings in a variety of media, developing and expanding themes of a surrealistic nature.
